Body positive? What’s that? I have challenged myself to not say anything negative about my appearance in front of my daughter. (Really, I’m trying not to say anything negative about myself or others.) Anyway, it gets easier with time, but it’s still a struggle. *Read my week one post for my goals and ways you can help.
Weeks 3 & 4
Weeks three and four were a bit easier than the first two weeks. This challenge really helped serve as a constant reminder of my goal, and I love to be able to check things off a list and give myself a gold star! Anyway, the past two weeks were eerily similar in that I actually did pretty well:
WIN: I actually went two weeks without saying anything negative about my own body or about anyone else’s body in front of my daughter! I was hyper cognizant of it all the time, which helped a lot.
LOSS: I did say make some negative comments about others outside of the presence of my daughter. I had a couple of run-ins with some passive aggressive family members, so I vented to my husband about it. I wish I had just focused on what happened in the moment and didn’t just put them down as people.
LOSS: My husband made some negative comments about women and their appearance over the past two weeks. In one instance, he was describing a female actress and used the words “way too skinny” and “really ugly” to get his point across. In another instance, he was describing a woman who I know and made some really negative remarks about her haircut and general demeanor. I take this as a loss because I didn’t really step in and ask him to help me with my goals by joining the challenge.
