Mabel’s Labels were part of our welcome package at my daughter’s daycare (we were required to purchase a Baby Combo Pack). The pack of labels included several large and small general use name stickers, shoe stickers, “tag mates” (to go on that spare set of clothes, blankets, loveys, etc.), and bag tags for your diaper bag or daycare bag.
We loved the pack so much that we purchased a second set, and soon after that, I became an affiliate (which means I receive a small commission at no extra cost to you if you make a purchase via one of the links or ads in my post – you can read my Disclosure Policy HERE).
I received a free pack of personalized name stickers in exchange for writing an honest, unbiased review of the product and my experience with the company. This is what they look like:
What do we need labels for?
It turns out labels are super useful when you have a kid. I used Mabel’s Labels to keep track of toys at our playgroup and to keep track of my daughter’s belongings at daycare.
Playgroup: Which toy is mine???
As soon as my daughter started becoming more mobile and interactive, our playgroup changed quite a bit. People were losing toys left and right because we all had the “same toys.” However, being the germaphobe that I am, I just couldn’t stomach the idea that I might be bringing home a toy with some other kid’s dirty home germs (or dirty mouth germs) with me! So, I put labels on my daughter’s toys. When it came time for the playgroup to pack up, there was no question which rattle or teether was ours.
Daycare: Bottles, and Jackets, and Pacis… Oh My!
Everyday we pack my daughter’s daycare bag. It includes a jacket, her lovey, a sippy cup,a pacifier, and bottles. Each of these things looks like some other kid’s things. Basically, for the same reason as I labeled my daughter’s things at playgroup, I label them at daycare. Also, it allows me to take inventory of what I take to daycare everyday and compare it to what comes home. I know if one of my daughter’s sippy cups or bottles is missing, so I can check in with daycare to make sure they send it back the next day.
Why Mabel’s Labels?
There are lots of label companies out there. I like Mabel’s Labels because the quality is great, and there is a wide selection of styles to choose from.
When they stick on, they stay on! You don’t have to worry about Mabel’s Labels coming off and losing their stickiness. I was a bit hesitant to pay $20+ for labels, but these are definitely worth the investment! I haven’t had a single label come off on its own, and I’ve been using these for over seven months. Also, your baby will try and try–and fail–to peel these off (*just be careful if your teething little one gnaws at them).
If for some reason you do need to take them off, there is no mess! I recently had to remove a label that my daughter chewed up a bit, and there was no sticky residue. Think of those DMV registration tags you put on your car every year. They are super strong, but peeling them off is a nightmare, right?! I think Mabel’s Labels are similar in strength but WAY easier to remove–the best of both worlds.
Also, they won’t fade in the sun! I’ve taken bottles and toys to the beach and to the park, and even to the desert, and the name stickers still look just as good as they did when they first arrived in the mail.
They are waterproof, too! I’ve washed them by hand numerous times now, and they do not peel off after washing! They also sometimes sit in the sink to soak after a long day of daycare (before I can get to the dishes), and you can’t even tell!
Just be careful if your baby is teething. He or she might be able to scratch off a little bit of the label. To be fair, though, the website doesn’t say they are teething baby proof!
Variety of Products to Choose From
The purchase journey at mabelslabels.com involves three steps: (1) Enter your child’s name; (2) Choose a font; and (3) Choose a style. Thus far, my favorite font is the “classic,” and my favorite style is the multicolor labels with the owl icon. There are lots of style categories, including Land Animals (like my favorite owl), Water Animals/Fish, Nature, Sports, and Emojis! It seems like there is an endless combination of products to choose from, which I really like. I’ve actually picked a different style each time I ordered some.
I’ve obviously only used Mabel’s Labels in my capacity as a mom–to label my daughter’s things. However, there are a wide variety of other labels and products available. I’m especially looking forward to trying some of the labels for organization (we are trying to get our house in order and be able to find our own stuff), so these would come in really handy for our storage bins.
The purchase experience is pretty reliable, and there is free shipping on everything! (I hate paying for shipping.) Just know that if you do select the free shipping option, it will take about two weeks for the labels to arrive (6-12 business days). Be sure to order well in advance of when you need them because rush shipping is pretty pricey: $14 for 4-6 business days or $25 for 2-3 business days.
The Verdict? BUY!
I strongly recommend that you purchase Mabel’s Labels. It’s a great product that has everyday utility for moms (and everyone else, too)!
